Important Announcement

Club Official Break for ACADEMIC EXAMS Announcement

  1. From the week of April 27th (Monday) to the week of June 1st (Monday), the club will halt all activities.
  2. This is to allow members to concentrate on their academic exams and at the same time take a good break after a long period of MONDAY nights being taken off your schedule.
  3. For RMIT members who will most likely complete their exams by Mid May. You may wish to call up fellow members to go for swim training together.
  4. As for UOL, all the best for the once a year EXAM! Do your best. Forget about your BM timings and LS123 lame techniques. We will conquer those when we come back.
  5. The club officially resumes its operation on June 8th. This whole month is cordoned off for your SLSS examinations.
  6. This also means that we may need to ask you come for trainings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In order to pass your Lifesaving Examination. It is also a good time for you to accumulate your attendance which you lack from the trainings. However, we will require commitment with you if you wish to take this lifesaving training seriously.
  7. 8th June also spells the start of the training for ANNUAL LIFESAVING COMPETITION. The club wishes to call out to all BM-certified members to concentrate on Lifesaving Competition Events
  8. It is in the best interest of you to know that it is better for you to clear your BM before the club goes into break on last week of April. IF not, it will seemed like you took years to complete BM which is very demoralising. I seriously hope you all and put in this extra effort to pass you BM asap. Thus, this is what Zhiwei and I can do for you.
  9. LOOK HERE...
There will be trainings on 25/3, 27/3, 1/4, 3/4. Two weeks of extra Wednesday and Friday Trainings, ON top of the usual MONDAY TRAININGS.
  10. All trainings starts at 5.30pm. (as revision class ends at 5pm)
  11. Those who wish to take BM exams before club break, please contact DJ MAX (Zhiyu). He will collate the names and let me know. And i will make sure all of you pass before club break.
Hang in there! Let's all do well for our exams!

Yours Sincerely,
Silvester

Open Water Training
On the last saturday of every month, we head down to Sentosa's Palawan Beach
We do surfboarding, canoeing, beach run, open water swims, definitely not your typical day out at the beach.
It’s not all work and no play though. Our beach outing have proven to be a great get-together session, a day of fun and laughter

Biathlon
Come 2009 we will focus our training on the singapore biathlon and NUS biathlon. A biathlon is a sport that combines swimming and running, demanding mental strength and determination from every participating athlete. Distances can range from a sprint race (750m swim, 5km run) to a full Olympic distance race (1.5km swim, 10km run). With well organised progressive training and special total immersion swimming workshops, we believe we can achieve great results.

Competitions
Our main competitions are the National annual lifesaving competition and NUS invitational.
Competition events include still water events such as obstacle swims, manikin tows, rope throw etc. The best part comes at the beach with open water events such as the board/canoe race, run-swim-run, beach runs, board rescue and so many more!

Swimming
You love the calming feeling of being submerged in water and the fun factor of frolicking in the pool like you were 10 years old again.
We welcome you to join us for leisure swimming. It doesn’t matter if you swim to keep fit, swim as a past-time, swim fast or slow, we welcome you with open arms to enjoy swimming together. We'll be officially starting our first swimming lesson this coming 6th July 2009, so sign up now and learn how to swim!

Student Coaches
After Bronze Medallion and becoming a qualified lifeguard, your journey doesn’t stop there!
We encourage our members to take up coaching courses and becoming a lifesaving coach for our team after attaining your Bronze Medallion.
Many of our members have gone on to attain the Award of Merit in lifesaving too!

Courses
Other than our club activities, we also conduct courses such as lifesaving 1,2 and 3, Bronze Medallion, and Award of Merit in lifesaving.
Most of our members attained at least Bronze Medallion. Many of them go on to work part time as Lifeguards or swimming coaches. .
So what is Lifesaving and Bronze Medallion? We use a simple analogy. Lifesaving123 is like your driving theory, and Bronze Medallion is like your TP test.
After passing, you would be a qualified driver lifeguard!

Lifesaving 1, 2 & 3

We conduct Lifesaving 1, Lifesaving2, and lifesaving 3 as a single course.
It will be 10 sessions over 10 weeks, followed by a test by an external examiner.

Pre-requisite: Able to swim 200m in any stroke (no time limit)

Our Next intake for lifesaving 123 course will start on 1st Augest 2009 or earlier.
Fees: $120(subsidised rate) for lifesaving 123, inclusive of exam fees, coach fees and manual.

Bronze Medallion

After the completion of lifesaving 1,2 & 3 The Bronze Medallion course is the icing on the cake.
Upon completion of the BM course, you will be a qualified lifeguard!
