Hi all,
Please email Lynne (
hopscotch88@hotmail.com) to state the food you are going to bring. Do not worry about the amount of food to bring because if everyone brings a little here and there, there'll be enough food for all.
We will need:
1) Staple (Fried Rice, Beehoon, Pasta, Pizza etc)
2) Savouries (Sotong Balls, Chicken Wings, Otahs, Mash Potatoes, Hot Dogs, Curry Puffs, Tuna Mayo, Meatballs etc)
3) Fruits and Vegetables (Strawberries, Banana, Brocolli, Lettuce, Mushrooms, etc)
4) Junks (chips and crackers)
6) Sweets (ice cream, brownies, donuts, cookies, muffins, jelly, cheesecakes, etc)
7) Drinks (Soft drink, mineral water, non-carbonated drinks)
8) Paper Plates and Cups
These are only suggestions.
Just to add on something as well. We will be having our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on that day as well. So do come down and listen to what exciting plans we have for the club this coming 2010!
Thank you all for your cooperation.
Hi guys,
Once again, Allister Ngai has brought SIM honour in winning a silver medal for 100m Freestyle. Although the rest of the team did not win any medals, they've actually attained outstanding results by breaking most of their individual best timings.
I hope this will be able to bring inspirations and motivations to the rest of people in the club to train hard for our next year's competition in all aspects including aquathlon, biathlon, lifesaving and swimming comp.
Another good news which I would like to bring to everyone. That is from next week onwards, there'll be weekly swim trainings conducted for the club. These trainings include endurance, speed training and strokes correction. Our winner of IVP, Allister, will be our leading swimmer for the training. I hope to see everyone back training together because I feel that nothing beats the great satisfaction of training together in the pool.
For those having exams at the current moment, I'll like to wish everyone on the behalf of the club, all the best and see you after your battle. Cheers!

Open Water Training
On the last saturday of every month, we head down to Sentosa's Palawan Beach
We do surfboarding, canoeing, beach run, open water swims, definitely not your typical day out at the beach.
It’s not all work and no play though. Our beach outing have proven to be a great get-together session, a day of fun and laughter
Biathlon
Come 2009 we will focus our training on the singapore biathlon and NUS biathlon.
A biathlon is a sport that combines swimming and running, demanding mental strength and determination from every participating athlete. Distances can range from a sprint race (750m swim, 5km run) to a full Olympic distance race (1.5km swim, 10km run).
With well organised progressive training and special total immersion swimming workshops, we believe we can achieve great results.
Competitions
Our main competitions are the National annual lifesaving competition and NUS invitational.
Competition events include still water events such as obstacle swims, manikin tows, rope throw etc.
The best part comes at the beach with open water events such as the board/canoe race, run-swim-run, beach runs, board rescue and so many more!
Swimming
You love the calming feeling of being submerged in water and the fun factor of frolicking in the pool like you were 10 years old again.
We welcome you to join us for leisure swimming. It doesn’t matter if you swim to keep fit, swim as a past-time, swim fast or slow, we welcome you with open arms to enjoy swimming together. We'll be officially starting our first swimming lesson this coming 6th July 2009, so sign up now and learn how to swim!
Student Coaches
After Bronze Medallion and becoming a qualified lifeguard, your journey doesn’t stop there!
We encourage our members to take up coaching courses and becoming a lifesaving coach for our team after attaining your Bronze Medallion.
Many of our members have gone on to attain the Award of Merit in lifesaving too!
Courses
Other than our club activities, we also conduct courses such as lifesaving 1,2 and 3, Bronze Medallion, and Award of Merit in lifesaving.
Most of our members attained at least Bronze Medallion. Many of them go on to work part time as Lifeguards or swimming coaches.
.
So what is Lifesaving and Bronze Medallion? We use a simple analogy. Lifesaving123 is like your driving theory, and Bronze Medallion is like your TP test.
After passing, you would be a qualified driver lifeguard!
Lifesaving 1, 2 & 3

We conduct Lifesaving 1, Lifesaving2, and lifesaving 3 as a single
course.
It will be 10 sessions over 10 weeks, followed by a test by an external examiner.

Pre-requisite: Able to swim 200m in any stroke (no time limit)
(You do not have to be Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Gold Star in Survival swimming to join!)
Our Next intake for lifesaving 123 course will start on 1st Augest 2009 or earlier.
Fees: $120(subsidised rate) for lifesaving 123, inclusive of exam fees, coach fees and manual.
Bronze Medallion

After the completion of lifesaving 1,2 & 3 The Bronze Medallion course is the icing on the cake.
Upon completion of the BM course, you will be a qualified lifeguard!
You will be learning CPR, different towing techniques, water based and land based rescue, etc.
The course is conducted every monday over a period of 10 weeks. Afterwhich there will be a test conducted by an external examiner

Our next intake will start on 13th July 2009
